Lachlan Robinson (324) in action during the first Senior MAX qualifying race
The Dubai-based schoolboy qualified ninth in the Senior MAX morning session and delivered one of his finest performances to finish fifth and setting the fastest lap of all 72 drivers in the ultra-competitive class made of national champions from around the world.
The 16-year-old said afterwards: "I was running top ten in most the sessions and I think I could have gone quicker in qualifying but it came good in the race. We were scrapping at the front with the guys defending but in the end, I managed to finish fifth. There is still work to do but all-in-all it was a good day."
While Robinson was the standout performer on the day, it was a somewhat disappointing day for his teammates who had their fair share of misfortune on a challenging day for Team UAE in Naples.
