From now until the end of the season the AARKC drivers aren’t going to have too much time to catch their breath with races occurring every fortnight until the curtain comes down on April 14th. For Round 7 the circus moves back to Al Forsan in Abu Dhabi for the second time this year as the Championship battles begin to paint a clearer picture.
Maurits Knopjes is doubtless going to be looking to continue his winning streak in the DD2 class. His run of form of late has been frustrating his rivals as they have been taking points off each other allowing him to stretch his lead even further. The question is who will take the fight to the Dutchman next week? Hasher Al Maktoum, Oliver George and Mohammed Al Dhaheri are all in the frame.
Senior MAX is set to be a ripper as championship leader Sanad Al Rawahi not only has Senior new-boy Piers Pakenham-Walsh to worry about but also former Junior MAX champion and current Formula BMW driver; Edward Jones. Al Rawahi is expecting a tough fight with not only the aforementioned, but also a rejuvenated Nikita Miliakov.
MAX Master will be running behind the DD2 class this time out. As their grid is expanding the competition is heating up. The three way fight between point’s leader Andrew Fuller, Luc Bauwmans and Walid Al Qassemi is expected to continue, and Fuller will be desperate to put the last 2 races behind him and get back to the top of the podium.
Cyrus Engineer now leads the Junior MAX class from Abdullah Al Rawahi. Al Rawahi was hot for a win last time out at Al Ain Raceway but a spin put him back down the field. It won’t be easy for him to get back on top as Engineer and Pasqual Pook are currently on form. Expect to see a strong comeback drive from Ameer Hassan and watch out for Patrick Hannah who looked very tidy at Al Forsan last time out.
Racing is scheduled to start at approximately 10am on Friday 17th February 2012.
