AL AIN RACEWAY INTERNATIONAL KART CIRCUIT

Antonio "Tony" has lived in the United Arab Emirates since the mid-90's and as such knows exactly what sinks and what swims. In 2006 Tony’s close friend and Al Ain Raceway Chairman, HE Khaled Bin Shaiban, asked him to put together a team capable of hosting events such as the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals which were held in 2007, ensuring that everything went off without a hitch.

Antonio secured the distribution rights for Rotax Kart Products within the UAE. He was responsible for setting up Al Ain Raceway’s Rotax MAX Challenge Championship which continues to go from strength to strength.  Today the circuit is a world class facility, with a Level B homologation – the highest in the region.

In 2011 Al Ain Raceway will host the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals for the second time.  This year’s championship will be the world’s largest karting event, with 264 participants from 60 different nations across five continents taking part, including seven competitors in Team UAE.

Antonio also holds a long-standing relationship with Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP). He established an agency and service centre for BRP in Abu Dhabi for products such as Sea-Doo jet skis.

Guy Sheffield has over 20 years’ experience in karting and has been with Al Ain Raceway from the beginning.  In addition to overseeing the circuit’s day to day management and operations, he designed the race circuit in accordance with CIK FIA standards for international venues.  He worked closely with the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE to develop the regulations governing the sport and ensure the highest safety standards, making Al Ain Raceway the centre of excellence that it is today, and has raised the profile of karting in the UAE and across the region.

Guy has extensive knowledge of the global karting scene and knows exactly how to run a track.  Not only has he managed indoor and outdoor circuits in the UK, but is a well known driver in international karting circles: a multiple karting champion himself between 1995 and 2005.
